2018 QTOP A Grade Semi Week 2
The Gold Coast Show long weekend will see the second week of finals for the 2018 QTOP A Grade Competition. The finals will be held over two venues, on Saturday at Tweed Heads and Currumbin on Sunday.
After falling short last weekend against Runaway Bay 37-16, the Tweed Heads Seagulls have been heavily working on ball possession and control. “We just couldn’t get into the game last weekend and struggled to build pressure against Runaway Bay’s physical side,” Tweed Heads Seagulls Coach Kevin Campion said. Although the Seagulls struggled last weekend, Campion is hopeful to get some players back through the likes of Rex Johnson, Kirk Murphy and Shaun Carney. The Tugun Seahawks are at their strongest after knocking out the Southport Tigers last weekend 26-22. In yet another elimination match, the Seahawks are building in strength and confidence each week. Season fullback Corey Morris will return to the side this week, which is great news for the Seahawks playing consistency. Tugun are focused to progress to next weeks finals and know Tweed will be strong and physical in the front rows.
The Currumbin Eagles have had a week rest and are ready to take on the Seagulls for a spot in the 2018 QTOP A Grade Grand Final. The Eagles week off came at a great time and allowed players with injuries a break to reset and recover. Finishing as minor premiers of the A Grade competition, the club and team are excited for the finals ahead. Defeating the Tweed Heads Seagulls last weekend has given Runaway the confidence to take on the Currumbin Eagles. “We just need to make sure we are all on the same page and momentum is everything,” Runaway Bay Seagulls Coach Nick Gleeson said. The Seagulls are building in the right direction and the team is hungry for a win.
